In partnership with TALMAR,  NAAAP Baltimore invites members and their guests to our second Self Care and Wellness Field Day at TALMAR's Horticultural Therapy Center and Farm!

We believe PLAYING, RESTING, CREATING, LEARNING, and CONNECTING WITH NATURE are forms of self-care that can be enhanced when done in community.

This is a family-friendly event with kid-friendly activities. Children must be supervised at all times.

Please complete waiver and registration form for TALMAR here by copying and pasting the following link in a new tab: https://forms.gle/H7kvVUXgZpc9JmBe8

The participation data from this registration form is used to inform TALMAR's grant-funding from Baltimore County; it also includes a State Park liability waiver. We highly recommend filling it out prior to the event, however a paper version will be available onsite.

PLAY

Remember field games in elementary school? We’re bringing them back!

REST

Relax and unwind. Feel invited to come as you are or bring what you need for your own self-care, and we’ll have stations to stretch out, journal, and more. Plus, we’ll connect you to mental health resources for the APIA community.

CREATE

Express yourself creatively! We will have watercolor supplies, markers, origami paper, star paper, colored pencils and coloring books, and more available at our arts and craft station.

LEARN

Psychoeducational opportunities and resources will be provided, as well as a community-built library with some mental health specific books for the APIA community.

CONNECTING WITH NATURE

No garden or space is too small to start a pollinator garden. Jamie Sumague, NAAAP Baltimore member and TALMAR director of therapeutic programs, will teach you how to help pollinators and even the smallest wildlife flourish in your space!

How much does this event cost:

It’s free for members!

About TALMAR:

TALMAR’s mission is to offer an innovative, therapeutic environment in which to provide work skills development, and vocational, educational and recreational programming in horticulture and agriculture.  Their farm is located within Cromwell Valley Park. Visit talmar.org to learn more.

How to get there:

You can access the center from the Sherwood entrance of Cromwell Valley Park. TALMAR’s  address is: 1994 Cromwell Bridge Rd, Baltimore, MD 21234.

Take the windy driveway down and make the first left where there is a large sycamore tree and a white TALMAR sign. You will then take the one-lane driveway down until you see white barns. There is an aerial photo below of where to park which is circled in red. The parking area circled in green is for anyone with limited mobility.

We will be creating a space to organize carpooling through Slack: TBA

Can I bring a friend who is not a NAAAP member?:

Yes. NAAAP members are welcome to invite and register their non-member friends and guests.

What should I wear:

Comfortable clothes to move/lay around in

What should I bring?

Anything you need to be comfortable outdoors. We recommend water, sun protection, bug spray, any medications you may need and anything else that you would like to bring for your own personal self-care! (ie, journals, camping chairs, blankets, field games, tarot cards, etc).

We would also recommend clean jars (labels removed) and clean takeout containers for a few upcycling opportunities, as well as any books you would either like to share day of or lend longer term (on a timeline you discuss and decide) for the community-built library!

Will there be food?

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. However, if you have a favorite Asian snack or drink you would like to bring and/or share, you are more than welcome to!

Will dogs be allowed?

Yes.

Is this event family friendly?

Yes.

How do I volunteer or help with this event?

A sign-up genius will be released towards the end of May for volunteering day-of. If you would like to support with the planning process, please reach out to [email protected]

Do I need to fill out the registration form?

Yes. The participation data from this registration form is used to inform TALMAR's grant-funding from Baltimore County; it also includes a State Park liability waiver. We highly recommend filling it out prior to the event, however a paper version will be available onsite.
