NAAAP Baltimore and TALMAR are partnering for the first ever Self Care Field Day event at TALMAR's horticultural therapy center and farm. NAAAP Baltimore members and their guests are invited to  our first Self Care and Wellness Field Day.  This event is open to NAAAP members and friends. We believe PLAYING, RESTING, and LEARNING are forms of self care and wellness and can be enhanced when done in community.

Pre-registration required. Please sign up here by copying and pasting the following link in a new tab: https://forms.gle/M3y381GpEPz5H85t7

PLAY

Remember field games in elementary school? We’re bringing them back – this time with a few Asian twists.

REST

Relax and unwind. Feel invited to come as you are or bring what you need for your own self-care, and we’ll have stations to stretch out, journal, and more. Plus, we’ll connect you to mental health resources for the APIA community.

LEARN

No garden or space is too small to start a pollinator garden. Jamie Sumague, NAAAP Baltimore member and TALMAR director of therapeutic programs, will teach you how to help pollinators and even the smallest wildlife flourish in your space!

How much does this event cost:

It’s free!

About TALMAR:

TALMAR’s mission is to offer an innovative, therapeutic environment in which to provide work skills development, and vocational, educational and recreational programming in horticulture and agriculture.  Their farm is located in within Cromwell Valley Park. Visit talmar.org to learn more.

How to get there:

You can best access the center from the Sherwood entrance of Cromwell Valley Park. TALMAR’s  address is: 1994 Cromwell Bridge Rd, Baltimore, MD 21234.

Take the windy driveway down and make the first left where there is a large sycamore tree and a white TALMAR sign. You will then take the one-lane driveway down until you see white barns. There is an aerial photo below of where to park which is circled in red. The parking area circled in green is for anyone with limited mobility.

We will be creating a space to organize carpooling through Slack: TBA

Can I bring a friend who is not a NAAAP member?:

Yes

What should I wear:

Comfortable clothes to move/lay around in

What should I bring?

Anything you need to be comfortable outdoors. We recommend water, sun protection, bug spray, any medications you may need and anything else that you would like to bring for your own personal self-care! (ie, journals, camping chairs, blankets, field games, hammocks, etc).

Will there be food?

Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. However, if you have a favorite Asian snack you would like to bring and/or share, you are more than welcome to!

Will dogs be allowed?

Yes.

How do I volunteer or help with this event?

A sign-up genius will be released towards the end of March for volunteering day-of. If you would like to support with the planning process, please reach out to [email protected]

Do I need to fill out the registration form before the event?

Yes. The data from this registration form is used to inform TALMAR's participation, grant-funding from Baltimore County, and the State Park liability waiver. We highly recommend filling it out prior the event, however a paper version will be available onsite.
